Hi, and welcome to my blog, where I document and explore my life as a photographer, writer, podcast host, small-business owner, partner, and papa. If you’ve been reading along at home, it will come as no surprise to you that I am, first and foremost, a street photographer. I discovered street photography in 2014 while out and about with my new Canon DSLR, walking the streets of my local neighbourhood and the city of Melbourne. I quickly discovered both a fascination and a desire to explore documenting life on the streets. Over the years, I have refined my approach to and understanding of street photography through countless expeditions hunting for the light in my hometown of Melbourne, as well as interstate and abroad on travels.
For me, street photography is about documenting the urban experience and making meaningful observations of light, time, and the ways people interact with the world around them. That world is ever-changing, yet photography freezes moments in time that will never be repeated and all too often forgotten. As a street photographer, I see it almost as an obligation to document what is, before it becomes what was. Having spent years walking the streets of Melbourne and its edgy inner suburbs, I felt it was time to achieve a new goal that incorporates the city I love and have lived in all my life, my love of street and urban photography, and the desire to share my experiences and teach others to hunt light.
Hence, Street Level Photography Workshops was born, and with it a new opportunity for me to show others the beauty of Melbourne and how anyone can take a crack at street photography – regardless of gear, knowledge, or skill level. To get things started, I have opted for regular small-group workshops (up to four participants) and solo workshops for anyone wanting a dedicated one-on-one approach to learning the craft. While you can head to the Street Level Photography Workshop page, here’s a summary of what’s on offer and what’s involved.
Street Level Group Workshop – Master The Basics – Melbourne CBD
- 3-hour small-group guided street walk (up to 4 participants).
- Flinders Street Railway Station, Melbourne – Under The Clocks

- Education, support, and guidance to optimise your images, build interesting compositions, and tell a unique story.
- Post-walk debrief to discuss your experience and take-away moments.

These workshops are now officially live on my site and use TryBooking to safely and securely facilitate the transaction and booking process. It’s also worth noting that I have future workshops planned, including Urban Street Scenes – South Yarra, Prahran, & Windsor (open for expressions of interest), Melbourne Docklands, and non-walking workshops for mobility-impaired photographers, and additional one-on-one mentoring sessions both in person and online.
Of course, no man is an island, and it wouldn’t be possible to undertake such an endeavour without the love, trust, and support of my amazing partner, The Doctor. I would also like to thank Justin Castles for his ongoing support and encouragement. Justin is the founder of Lucky Straps, co-host of The Camera Life Podcast, and one of the greatest human beings I have ever had the privilege to call a friend. While it is early days for this new chapter in my creative journey, I am excited to make a start, showcase Melbourne as I see it, and support other creatives in elevating their photography in a safe and supportive way. For any enquiries, please go to my Contact page and drop me a line. Be safe. G
