Kyoto From Above
On my trip to Japan in 2016 I managed to visit Osaka, Kyoto and Hiroshima. I have written extensively about that trips and those experiences and have shared many images with all of you here. From time to time I scroll through my image collections from that trip and others I have made. Every now and then I come across a set of images that I have not shared before or at the very least only shared the one example. Recently I came across a set of images from my time in Kyoto. The difference with these images were that I took them all from up inside the observation decks of Kyoto Tower.

Kyoto Tower is an observation tower located smack in the middle of Kyoto and across the road from the monolithic Kyoto Station. The tower is 131 meters tall and is the tallest structure in Kyoto. It sits atop a 9-storey building that houses Kyoto Tower Hotel, restaurants and retail stores. The observation deck is 100 meters high and hosts a bar area and observation area. On a cloudy afternoon in Kyoto, I made my way up to the tower to spend a little time relaxing after a big day in Hiroshima. I photographed Kyoto from above and worked to get as many views as I could. All images were shot with the Fujifilm X-T1 and the Fujifilm XF50-140mmF2.8
